Can someone please tell me exactly what " heritage" means in Montreal. I was born there and spent the first 25 years of my life in that wonderful city. However, for the life of me I can't figure out what is considered heritage and how that designation really protects that structure. During my 25 years in the city, I saw hundreds of buildings that would be considered "heritage" torn down. It's all well and good to label something heritage, but if there is no actual protection backing up the designation, what exactly is the point.
