  1. That's really too bad, although it's almost a miracle that it didn't close down 15 or 20 years ago. I remember traveling all the way from Laval when I was a teenager in the 80s to buy art supplies at this store. At the time it was a smaller storefront, and I found it appealing that the front portion had seemingly remained unchanged since the 40s. At that point I think there were a couple of generations of the family working there, and it appeared to be healthy business-wise, presumably before the larger scale art stores became more common. When I returned in the early 2000s I was dismayed at how BBP was in decline. And the decline continued especially in its last 4 or 5 years, as I often wondered how long an empty storefront could keep going before finally shutting down.
