Stats for Haunted House / Statistiques pour la Maison Hantée

When I posted the Haunted House photos on August 10, at Flickr and then my blog, stats blew up. In 3 days, I got over 16000 views at Flickr and the article on the Haunted House demolition at the blog got nearly 600 direct views in one day. Of course, where ALL these views came from are almost impossible to track (Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc). I'm also assuming there were more views since counters don't count Feedly or mobile views the same way. It's amazing that the news of the Haunted House being demolished got such a massive response, more than the news about the Notre-Dame-De-La-Paix demolition, and yet almost nothing about it in the mainstream media in Montreal.

Twitter: useless / inutile

I've been using Twitter for over a month now and aside from informing the 10 who follow me it's pretty much useless since my tweets don't show up if I do a search. Other tweets on VM do show up, like Pierre Deschenes' tweet in the screenshot below but not mine. My account is not set at 'protected.' I don't get it.

  1. I think a lot of people noticed that building and thought it was pretty cool. I for one was surprised and disappointed that it was set to be demolished, I just walked past it not that long ago. It was certainly unique to the area.

As for Twitter, you might have better results if you use more hashtags. Still, I have a Twitter but I find it more annoying than anything. I mostly stick with fb.

Congrats on the stats. Check out my Montreal-based blog "Things I find in the garbage" if you're interested. It's a bit like this in some ways, dealing often with vanishing / junked material culture from lives present and past. www.garbagefinds.com
