Here's an elementary class photo. I'm right dead center, with the bow tie. The church was N.D. de la Garde in Verdun. I don't exactly remember what year this was but I believe this was my 4rth year.

Voici un photo de classe élémentaire. Je suis directement au centre, avec le nœud papillon. L'église était N.D. de la Garde à Verdun. Je ne me souviens pas quelle année c'était, mais je crois que c'était la 4e année primaire.
École Baril school
The Baril school in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve is currently being demolished. The top photos were taken last summer and the bottom photos were taken two weeks ago. I'll try and take some photos of the demolition, which seems to be slow going. There are more photos at Flickr.

L'école Baril dans Hochelaga-Maisonneuve est actuellement en cours de démolition. Les premières photos ont été prises l'été dernier et les deuxièmes photos ont été prises il y a deux semaines. New look for part of the Guy-Concordia metro station. What do you think? Ugly or not? I'm torn. The colors do pop out from the super boring metro station but at the same time I think the person who decided on these colors and patterns was color blind.

Nouveau look pour une partie de la station de métro Guy-Concordia. Que pensez-vous? Laid ou non? Je suis déchiré. Les couleurs sont vivent pour une station de métro super ennuyante, mais en même temps je pense que la personne qui a décidé sur ces couleurs et ces motifs était surement daltonien.

The St Mary's Anglican church in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. The church, which is now some sort of design / architect shop, was once adjacent to a protestant school which was the scene of a tragedy known as the Hochelaga School Fire of 1907, where 16 kids and one teacher died in a fire.

L'église de St-Mary's Anglican dans Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. L'église, qui est maintenant un genre de bureau de design / architecture, était une fois voisin de l'école protestante qui fut la scene d'une tragédie où 16 enfants et une enseignante sont morts dans un incendie.

Boarded-up and crumbling greystone in the Shaughnessy Village. It's always sad to see some nice greystone neglected and falling apart.

Ugly Montreal
This office tower on the corner of De Maisonneuve and City Counsillors is an eyesore. The basic design/shape of it is ok if a bit dated but the material (concrete?), the tiny windows and upon closer look the way it was built (exposed bolts, joints, etc) guaranteed this building a place in the Ugly Montreal pantheon.

Cet édifice sur le coin de De Maisonneuve et City Counsillors est assez laid. La conception de base / forme du bâtiment est acceptable si un peu passé mais le matériel (béton?), les petites fenêtres et en regardant de plus près la façon dont le tout a été construite (boulons exposés, jointures, etc) l'a garanti une place dans le panthéon Ugly Montreal.

The Manulife construction site on De Maisonneuve. The site was temporarily halted when news that the former parking area might have been an aboriginal burial ground. When I took the photo, the construction workers were busy working.

Progress on the construction of the museum extension on Bishop street. Hmm...looks completely out of proportion to the rest of the street. Hopefully once it's finished it will blend in better with the surroundings.

Construction of the intermediary ressource center where the Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix chucrch used to be. In Verdun. Just to mention that the new building, at this stage and seen from Gertrude street, is being built where the grass area and the presbytery used to be and not directly over where the actual bulk of the church used to be.

Juste pour mentionné que le nouveau bâtiment en cours de construction, a cette phase et vue à partir de la rue Gertrude, est où le gazon et le presbytère se trouvaient et pas directement au-dessus où la majorité l'église se situait.

The entire Wilder building on de Bleury is gutted. They basically just kept the skeletal structure. An addition is going up on the far left.
