New condo building on Préfontaine street - HOMA

This new condo project on Préfontaine street in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district has risen on top of what used to be some offices or businesses (below). I was fortunate enough to have taken screenshots of the area before the new condo project took shape and Google updated their Google Maps/Streetview info. The below image with the grey/blue siding is older than the exposed red brick one directly after it. I don't know if they demolished the entire structure and rebuilt from scratch or that they used the frame or base and build on top of it. If anyone has some info, of what used to be there and if they kept the frame of the old building, please email me.

You can see the stripped down structure from this Google Streetview shot seen from Moreau street in the screenshot above. Did they keep the old frame and build on top/around it?

Progress report: corner of Peel and Wellington (June 2013) - Griffintown

Here are just photos of the progress going on on the corner of Peel and Wellington in Griffintown, photos taken in June 2013. The 3 top photos are of the Griffix building next to the Corlab building which will be demolished. The foundation of the facade from the old building intergrated to the new structure showed some major damage (third photo). I have to say that I like the building with the big windows (4 last photos). I might change my mind once it's completed but for now those windows are impressive and shiny.

Corlab building on Peel - Griffintown

The Corlab building on Peel street in Grffintown, near the corner of Wellington, will be demolished. As the second photo shows they moved on Pie-IX street back in January 2013. The owner of the Pitstop garage next to it (last photo) refused any offers until they get what they want...so for now it was still there when I took these photos in June. Apparently the structure of the garage was affected by all the demolition and construction going on there.

Red brick building set for demolition - Griffintown

Initially this condo/loft project was supposed to retain the red brick building, as posted here back in 2011: Lofts on Square Gallery st.. But since then the project has changed and the old building will be demolished entirely for another massive condo project, as viewed in the banner in the below photo. This is not good

Le Hangar restaurant - Griffintown

I don't know the fate of the building where Le Hangar restaurant used to be, on the corner of Wellington and Shannon. The restaurant closed in January 2013. The restaurant owners said people had difficulty accessing the place because of the continuous construction projects going on all around them and had no choice but to close the business. Functionalab Jouviance appear to still be operating from that location. Nice red brick building.

William and Richmond condo project - Griffintown

Nothing much to say as these photos say everything. It's on the corner of William and Richmond in Griffintown. Next to it is a big piece of land which is perfect for any new construction project (assuming the land was part of the Samcon deal). The sidewalks in that area are really bad. Posted about this last year in June: Boarded-up building.

Condo project on William and Des Seigneurs - Griffintown

The "Le William" condo project is on its way to being completed. The construction was supposed to take place at different times with different phases but everything seems to be built all at once. At least they preserved the beautiful red brick building. I already posted about this project last year. See here.

I included a photo I took of the construction site and the massive hole they dug just to give you an idea. I'll do a Before and After once it's completed.

On the corner of William and St-Martin

On St-Martin street where Le William condo project is being built. On the other side of the street there's yet another condo project that will replace this plant.

Buildings gone on Des Seigneurs & William - Griffintown

The structures on the corner of Des Seigneurs and William were completely demolished for yet another massive condominium project. The first 4 photos were taken in April 2012. The 2 following photos (with snow) were taken in March of this year. And the 6 last original photos were taken in May 2013. This project is moving fast once it got started. I included two Google streetview screenshots to show the view from the bridge.

I loved the red brick building just next to the bridge crossing the Lachine canal. In my opinion, it was so iconic of the area and the general old industrial look of the city of Montreal.
