Big construction hole located between Place Jacques Cartier and Saint-Vincent street in Old Montreal. Le Saint Amable hotel will be built there. It's amazing that a big construction like this right in the middle of historical Old Montreal hardly elicited any media in the city. Well that's Montreal for ya. Immense trou de construction situé entre la Place Jacques-Cartier et la rue Saint-Vincent dans le Vieux-Montréal. Le projet est l'hôtel Le Saint Amable. Il est étonnant qu'une construction comme ça au milieu du Vieux-Montréal à peine créée des manchettes dans les médias dans notre ville. C'est bien Montréal pour toi. The Hickson clinic in Verdun will be converted into condos. A triplex next to it (see here) will be merged as part of the new project. Builders are already busy working on the project. This is not the first clinic to disappear in Verdun.

La clinique Hickson à Verdun sera converti en condos. Un triplex à côté (voir ici) sera fusionné dans le cadre du nouveau projet. Les constructeurs travaillent déjà sur le projet. Ce n'est pas la première clinique à disparaître à Verdun.

Last weekend I went to Old Montreal and took loads of photos and I also passed by the Le Victoire condo project, reported here at Vanishing Montreal back in July 2014 (link), and nothing has changed since I was there last summer. The project is at a stand-still. The Journal de Montreal has written about it (link). I took more photos but the one above is from July.

Le dernier week-end je suis allé à Vieux-Montréal et pris des tas de photos et j'ai aussi passé par le projet de condos Le Victoire, rapporté ici à Vanishing Montréal en juillet 2014 (lien), et rien n'a changé depuis l'été dernier. Le projet est à un arrêt complet. Le Journal de Montréal a écrit sur ce sujet (lien). Je pris plus de photos dimanche dernier mais celle ci-dessus est daté de juillet.

Old movie theater on Ste-Catherine (corner Aylmer) turned into a brand new store looking for renters. This place has been used as a store for a long time but the facade and the side have been changed and opened up (see here). There are very few existing and intact old cinemas in Montreal and it's nice to see that the general structure has been kept. If memory serves me right, at one point they use to show porno films there.

Vieux cinéma sur la rue Ste-Catherine (coin Aylmer) transformé en un nouveau magasin à la recherche de locataire. Cet endroit a été utilisé comme un magasin pendant longtemps mais maintenant la façade et le côté ont été changés (voir ici). Il y a très peu d'anciennes salles de cinéma existantes et intactes à Montréal et il est bon de voir que la structure en générale a été conservée. Si je me souviens bien, à un moment donné ils montraient des films porno là.

When I saw these buildings from a distance, on Ida Steinberg street in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, my jaw dropped to the ground. From afar or up close (google), collectively they are truly uninspiring. They look like Russian bunkers! A couple of big trees would help soften the outlook of these buildings.

Quand j'ai vu ces bâtiments de loin, sur la rue Ida Steinberg dans Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, ma mâchoire a chuté au sol. De loin ou de près (google), collectivement, ils sont vraiment sans intérêt. Ils ressemblent à des bunkers russes! Une poignée de grands arbres aideraient à adoucir l'apparences de ces bâtiments.

My parents, either my dad or mom, took the above picture. I don't know the year but it should be the late 1940s / early 1950s. I took the below picture this past Sunday. As you can see a couple of buildings were demolished.

Un de mes parents, que ce soit mon père ou ma mère, a pris la photo ci-dessus. Je ne connais pas l'année, mais ca devrait être au alentour de la fin des années 1940 / début des années 1950. J'ai pris la photo ci-dessous le dimanche dernier. Comme vous pouvez le voir quelques bâtiments ont été démolis.

The Deloitte tower seen from Jean D'Estrees street. Nice view but there are so many glass towers being built in Montreal that I want to start another blog called 'Not another glass tower!' The IBM tower will be blotted out with all the constructions going on around it.
